What is an LED Light Engine?
The world-wide demand for energy, coupled with the threat of climate change, has prompted the lighting industry to embrace new technologies that save energy and reduce carbon emissions. LEDs, and LED Light Engines, are quickly taking center stage. Solid state lighting, a system that uses semiconductor light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as light sources, use less energy and provide a longer life than the standard light sources used today. LEDs require power uncommon in conventional lighting systems, so we have combined the necessary circuitry directly with LED’s, to form “Light Engines” which can be used in conventional lighting applications. Light Engines from Illumination Devices replace standard bulbs and ballasts, simplifying light fixture designs and reducing costs for manufacturers. While there are many benefits to solid state lighting, it is also very complex. The money and time spent developing this technology is staggering for most manufacturers. Our light engines are simple, flexible and effective. OEMs can quickly integrate their existing fixture designs with cutting-edge LED technology, getting their products to market faster and cheaper. We offer standard LED Light Engines for a wide range of applications. If you need a custom solution, we are happy to provide one when certain criteria are met. Customers who want a custom light engine must fully understand the application of the product and demonstrate the potential to generate high-volume sales.
